Peppermint Swiss Chard
Growing Peppermint Swiss Chard
‘Peppermint’ is a distinctive Swiss chard prized for its striking stems, glossy foliage, and mild, slightly sweet flavor. Deeply savoyed dark green leaves contrast beautifully with pink-and-white striped stalks, making this variety as ornamental as it is useful in the kitchen.
Start ‘Peppermint’ indoors for transplanting. Plant seeds about ½ inch deep, space plants about 4 inches apart, and grow in full sun to partial shade. This variety is well suited to containers.
Ready to harvest in about 55 days, pick leaves at the size you prefer, choosing younger growth for an especially tender harvest.
Mild, colorful, and versatile, ‘Peppermint’ is excellent for fresh eating, salads, sautéing, everyday cooking, containers, and ornamental edible plantings.
