Growing Information

Growing Alma Paprika Heirloom Pepper

‘Alma Paprika’ is an heirloom pepper prized for its thick walls, sweet flavor, and mild peppery character. Cherry-type fruits transition from creamy white to orange and finally rich red, creating a colorful harvest with exceptional value for homemade paprika.

Start ‘Alma Paprika’ indoors for transplanting or sow directly where conditions allow. Plant seeds about ½ inch deep and space plants 12 to 18 inches apart. Grow in full sun. This heat-tolerant variety performs especially well during warm weather.

Ready to harvest in about 75 days, pick fruits at the color stage you prefer or allow them to ripen fully red for drying and grinding.

Sweet, mildly peppery, and versatile, ‘Alma Paprika’ is excellent for fresh eating, drying, homemade paprika, and seasoning blends.

Excellent product

I dry the peppers, grind them and make my own paprika. It is sooooo much better than the store bought. Excellent product.

Fantastic Peppers and Success Growing Them

We have a small greenhouse we start all our garden plants in. We ended up with 3 Alma Paprika seedlings that did extremely well in the garden. I wish I could post a picture of them. Very beautiful large on average 4 oz peppers. Here it is September and so far, we harvested 6 pounds of them which is not even half of them. We waited for them to turn red for dehydrating.
