Growing Red Candy Apple Hybrid Onion Plants

‘Red Candy Apple’ is the red counterpart to our popular ‘Candy Hybrid’ onion, prized for its exceptionally mild, sweet flavor and dependable performance. Large, slightly flattened globes develop deep red skin with attractive red-tinged flesh, offering a colorful alternative to traditional yellow onions.

Plant ‘Red Candy Apple’ onion transplants in full sun, setting them about 1 to 1½ inches deep and spacing plants 12 to 18 inches apart. Choose loose, well-drained soil and water thoroughly after planting to help the transplants establish. As a day-neutral variety, it can be grown successfully across a wide range of regions.

Ready to harvest in about 95 days, pull onions once the bulbs have reached full size and the tops begin to naturally fall over. Allow the bulbs to cure thoroughly before storing to help maintain their quality.

Exceptionally mild and sweet, ‘Red Candy Apple’ is delicious raw in salads, sandwiches, and fresh preparations, and is equally well suited to grilling, roasting, and everyday cooking.

Shipping Notice: This item ships directly from our supplier on a separate seasonal schedule. Most orders begin arriving in late January to early February, so we recommend planning accordingly if you need plants by a specific date.

I've never had trouble getting them to grow. And I like the sweeter taste of them. There not real big, but I'm not after the big huge . I'm not a big fan of onions. But I choose these over any other type of onion
