Moruga Trinidad Scorpion Pepper Plants

‘Moruga Trinidad Scorpion’ is an extremely hot pepper variety prized for its intense heat, distinctive wrinkled pods, and complex aroma and flavor. Once recognized as the world’s hottest pepper, this super-hot variety produces bright red fruits about 2 inches long on vigorous plants that can reach around 3 feet tall.

Plant ‘Moruga Trinidad Scorpion’ seedlings in full sun after all danger of frost has passed and temperatures have warmed. Set plants in rich, well-drained soil with enough space for good air circulation and healthy growth. Water consistently while plants establish, avoid overly wet soil, and provide regular feeding throughout the season to support flowering and fruit production.

The 2- to 6-inch seedlings arrive ready for transplanting and will continue developing through the warm season. This Capsicum chinense variety can take longer to mature than many common peppers, but established plants are capable of producing numerous intensely hot fruits. Wear gloves when harvesting, cutting, or processing the peppers, and avoid contact with eyes and skin.

Extremely hot with a distinctive aroma and flavor, ‘Moruga Trinidad Scorpion’ is best used sparingly in hot sauces, marinades, chili, and other spicy dishes. The peppers can also be dehydrated for longer-term use.
