Megaton Hybrid Cabbage
Growing Megaton Hybrid Cabbage
‘Megaton’ is a high-yielding hybrid cabbage known for producing exceptionally large, dense heads packed with tender, mild, sweet leaves. Some heads can grow to nearly bowling-ball size, while the small core leaves plenty of usable cabbage. Protective green wrapper leaves help shield the juicy interior, and strong disease resistance supports reliable, heavy harvests.
Start ‘Megaton’ seeds indoors for transplanting, or sow directly in the garden where conditions allow. Plant seeds about ¼ inch deep, space plants 18 to 24 inches apart, and grow in full sun. This cold-tolerant variety is also noted for its strong disease resistance.
Ready to harvest in about 89 days, the heads can be picked once they feel firm and have reached the desired size.
Tender, sweet, and versatile, ‘Megaton’ is excellent for fresh slaws and salads, everyday cooking, and storage.
