Growing Jamestown Hybrid Tomato

‘Jamestown’ is a hybrid tomato prized for its deep red interior color, sweet classic flavor, and dependable fruit set during hot weather. Deeply flattened fruits develop intensely red flesh and gel, making each slice especially attractive.

Start ‘Jamestown’ indoors for transplanting. Plant seeds about ¼ inch deep, space plants 24 to 36 inches apart, and grow in full sun. Compact determinate plants reach about 4 feet tall and are both heat tolerant and disease resistant.

Ready to harvest in about 79 days, pick fruits once they reach full size and develop their rich red mature color.

Sweet, richly colored, and heat tolerant, ‘Jamestown’ is especially well suited to slicing.

    Best determinate

I grow probably five or six different types of determinant tomatoes and I think the Jamestown has been the best performer across the spectrum of production and disease resistance. I also routinely get one and a half to two flushes that can last for 4 to 6 weeks. It’s not the greatest tasting tomato I grow, but it is predictable and reliable and I appreciate that and the tomato.

    Jamestown delivers

After loosing tomatoes to back to back 2 week spells over 100 degrees, I researched and grew Jamestown and Amelia last year. Jamestown was the winner. 100 degree temps and the flowers still set fruit. Tomatoes were large, red and delicious. I use everything I grow for fresh and canned eating.
Keep enough Ca in the soil and water when things get dry and they will perform .
