Growing Information

Growing Indigo Blue Beauty Beefsteak Tomato

‘Indigo Blue Beauty’ is an open-pollinated beefsteak tomato prized for its unusual coloring and productive plants. Large, meaty fruits are crack resistant and hold well on the vine, offering the distinctive qualities of smaller Indigo-type tomatoes in a much larger fruit.

Start ‘Indigo Blue Beauty’ indoors for transplanting. Plant seeds about ¼ inch deep, space plants 24 to 36 inches apart, and grow in full sun. This heat-tolerant variety performs well during warm weather.

Ready to harvest in about 80 days, pick fruits once they reach full size and mature color.

Meaty, colorful, and distinctive, ‘Indigo Blue Beauty’ is excellent for fresh eating and slicing.

Best in 2023

This was the best tomato out of 5 varieties that I grew in 2023. Least amount of cracking by far, and tied for the best flavor. Decent production, aithough the size varied substantially, but who cares if they taste great and don't crack!
