Growing Gherking Hybrid Burpless Cucumber

‘Gherking’ is a productive hybrid cucumber prized for its burpless, bitter-free flavor and abundant yields of small, uniform fruits. Cylindrical, dark green cucumbers develop white spines and stay mild even when left on the vine a little longer than ideal. Strong disease resistance and excellent productivity make this variety a dependable choice for both pickling and fresh eating.

Start ‘Gherking’ indoors for transplanting or sow directly in the garden about ½ inch deep. Space plants about 12 inches apart and grow in full sun. This variety performs best when trellised, which helps keep the fruits straighter, cleaner, and easier to harvest.

Ready to harvest in about 53 days, begin picking the fruits once they reach a usable size while they are still firm, crisp, and tender. Harvest regularly to encourage continued production and maintain the best texture and flavor.

Crisp, mild, and productive, ‘Gherking’ is excellent for fresh eating, snacking, salads, and pickling.

Excellent variety of cucumber

I was absolutely impressed with the taste of the Gherking Hybrid Burpless cucumber. In addition, it proved to be resistant to disease and pests that have affected other varieties of cucumbers. It will be a mainstay in my vegetable garden.

Hybrid Gherkin

This is a super impressive cucumber! The packet contained 15 seeds and all of them came up. The plants were healthy and produced better and longer than the others we grew. They are great fresh and pickled. It's the only one we want to grow now!

Best Cucumber ever

I have been searching for the best pickling cucumbers for several years, and I finally found it! These are prolific producers. They are extremely flavorful, and the crunch! These little guys are the crispiest cucumbers I have ever raised. These are my official go to cucumbers from now on.

Best cucumbers ever!

These are absolutely amazing! They were the fastest to fruit in my garden out of 10 varieties and were absolutely delicious no matter what size they were. They were super prolific as well! My 4 year old nephew was in love with these too! Next year I plan to do more of these and fewer of the other varieties. 10/10 rating!!!

not enough seed

I really like this type of cucumber but when I got my packet there were only 9 seeds in the packet when you say there are 12-15 seeds per packet. I was disappointed. Now I am ordering more seeds and shipping is more than the cost of seeds.
