Growing Information

Growing Geisha Garlic Chive

‘Geisha’ is an award-winning garlic chive and 2015 All-America Selections Winner prized for its rapid growth and refined, sweet garlic flavor. Long, slender stems are wider and flatter than those of many traditional chives, with an aromatic yet delicate taste that adds garlic character without becoming overpowering.

Start ‘Geisha’ indoors for transplanting or sow directly where conditions allow. Plant seeds about ¼ inch deep and space plants 6 to 9 inches apart. Grow in full sun. This variety is well suited to containers.

Ready to begin harvesting in about 75 days, cut leaves or stems as needed once plants are established for the freshest flavor.

Sweet, delicate, and versatile, ‘Geisha’ is excellent for soups, stir-fries, compound butters, and everyday cooking.
