Growing Information

Growing Double Golden Angels Trumpet

‘Double Golden’ is an open-pollinated angel’s trumpet prized for its fully double flowers, sunny yellow color, and powerful fragrance. Large trumpet-shaped blooms create a dramatic display from summer until frost, making this tender perennial an impressive ornamental even when grown as an annual.

Plant ‘Double Golden’ seeds about ¼ inch deep and space plants 24 to 36 inches apart. Grow in full sun. Germination typically takes 14 to 30 days. This heat- and drought-tolerant variety performs especially well in warm growing conditions.

Enjoy the fragrant blooms as they open and reach their best display stage. Plants create an especially dramatic focal point once their large trumpet-shaped flowers begin appearing.

Bold, fragrant, and tropical-looking, ‘Double Golden’ is an excellent choice for borders, containers, patio plantings, and ornamental displays. All parts of angel’s trumpet are poisonous if eaten.

Did not grow

Despite cold stratification, no luck with the seeds. I know they are hard to grow, but still disappointed.

Big and Beautiful

I planted these last year and had 2 plants grow - and boy did they grow. I started the seeds indoors and eventually plants into the garden. They grew over 6' tall and were covered in flowers. I am ordering more this year. I did try to get the seeds from the plants but I don't think they dried out enough before the cold and snow hit them.
