Growing Information
Growing Defiant Hybrid Slicing Tomato
‘Defiant’ is a hybrid slicing tomato prized for dependable production under disease pressure and classic sweet-acid flavor. Smooth, round red fruits have firm flesh and good texture, while compact plants remain manageable in raised beds and smaller gardens.
Start ‘Defiant’ indoors for transplanting. Plant seeds about ¼ inch deep, space plants 24 to 36 inches apart, and grow in full sun. Plants are noted for resistance to Late Blight and intermediate resistance to Early Blight.
Ready to harvest in about 70 days, pick fruits once they reach full size and develop their mature red color.
Balanced, firm, and dependable, ‘Defiant’ is excellent for slicing, salads, and sandwiches.
