Concord Grape Plants

‘Concord’ is a classic American grape variety prized for its deep purple skin, rich flavor, and unmistakable aroma. First introduced in the 1800s, it remains one of the most recognizable and dependable grapes for home gardens and small vineyards.

Plant ‘Concord’ in full sun, spacing vines about 6 to 8 feet apart with 8 to 10 feet between rows. Choose well-drained soil and provide a sturdy trellis, arbor, or fence for support. Water regularly while vines are establishing, fertilize lightly in early spring, and prune annually in late winter to encourage strong new canes and productive fruiting wood.

Best suited to USDA Zones 5–8, ‘Concord’ is vigorous, cold-hardy, and highly productive. It is self-pollinating, so only one plant is needed for fruit production. Remove any fruit during the first year to allow the plant to focus on establishing a strong root system.
