Catnip
Growing Catnip
Catnip is an easy-growing herb prized for its aromatic foliage and usefulness both for cats and in the herb garden. Fresh or dried leaves can be tucked into small toys for cats, while the fragrant foliage can also be harvested and dried for herbal use.
Start Catnip indoors for transplanting or sow directly where conditions allow. Plant seeds about ⅛ inch deep and space plants 18 to 24 inches apart. Grow in full sun. This drought-tolerant herb is also well suited to containers.
Ready to begin harvesting in about 80 days, cut leaves or stems as needed once plants are established and dry extra foliage for later use.
Aromatic, hardy, and useful, Catnip is especially well suited to drying, cat toys, and home herb gardens.
