‘Burpee’s Supersteak’ is a hybrid beefsteak tomato prized for its massive size, meaty texture, and slightly tangy flavor. Deep red fruits commonly weigh 1 to 2 pounds and combine the substantial character of a traditional beefsteak with improved garden performance.
Start ‘Burpee’s Supersteak’ indoors for transplanting. Plant seeds about ¼ inch deep, space plants 24 to 36 inches apart, and grow in full sun. Vigorous indeterminate vines benefit from strong support and are noted for disease resistance.

I bought a package of these in the spring of 2020, and they quickly became my favorite tomato. The tomato in the picture is sitting on a dinner plate and even though it's a beef steak, it doesn't have the disformed shoulders that a lot of those varieties have resulting in slicing loss. Delicious tomato flavor also. I always add mushroom compost to the hole and give it a good top dressing as well and use straw as mulch. You won't be disappointed.

This is Bruce, the gardener. I grow mostly heirloom tomatoes, but supersteak is a MUST. It is the go to tomato for BLT's. It is firm enough to hold together, but not hard and the taste is super. Big enough to cover the whole slice of toast.

My father grew this variety over 30 years ago with great success. I have been using it for at least the last 25. It is such a large beautiful tomato and it tastes great too. I give a lot of them away and actually am quite popular for it because nobody else has anything close to this at least around my circles. You do have to prune,
stake and tie Faithfully or you will not get the results you should.
