‘Candy’ is a widely adapted hybrid onion prized for its extra-large bulbs, mild sweetness, and reliable yields. This day-neutral variety produces globe-shaped onions with golden-brown skins and firm white flesh, combining sweetness with enough onion flavor for a wide range of kitchen uses.
Start ‘Candy’ indoors for transplanting or sow directly where conditions allow. Plant seeds about ¼ inch deep and space plants 12 to 18 inches apart. Grow in full sun. This cold-tolerant variety is also well suited to containers.
