Cal Sweet Bush Watermelon
Growing Cal Sweet Bush Watermelon
‘Cal Sweet Bush’ is an award-winning open-pollinated watermelon and 2019 All-America Selections Winner prized for its compact growth and sweet, crisp fruits. Each vine produces at least one watermelon, with plants capable of setting two to three fruits when given adequate space.
Sow ‘Cal Sweet Bush’ directly in the garden about ½ to 1 inch deep, space plants 36 to 48 inches apart, and grow in full sun. For best sowing, orient each seed with the pointed end facing down. Its compact growth makes this variety especially well suited to smaller gardens. When sowing, place the pointed end of the seed down.
Ready to harvest in about 90 days, pick fruits once they are fully mature and the bright red flesh has reached its best eating quality.
Sweet, crisp, and space efficient, ‘Cal Sweet Bush’ is excellent for fresh eating.
