Growing Bonsai Basil | The Kitchen Minis™ Collection

‘Bonsai’ is an open-pollinated basil from The Kitchen Minis™ Collection, prized for its ultra-compact growth habit, delicate leaves, and full Greek basil flavor. Its petite size makes it ideal for growing fresh basil in even the smallest spaces, from kitchen counters to sunny windowsills.

Start ‘Bonsai’ indoors for transplanting or sow directly where conditions allow. Plant seeds about ¼ inch deep and space plants about 10 inches apart. Grow in full sun. This heat-tolerant variety is exceptionally well suited to containers.

Ready to begin harvesting in about 30 days, snip the fine leaves as needed once plants become established. Their small size means they can often be used without chopping.

Compact, flavorful, and convenient, ‘Bonsai’ is excellent for fresh cooking, garnishes, drying, and small-space herb gardens.

Bonsai basil and snack cucumber

Little disappointed with the germination rate. Planted 10 seeds each only 3 each came up. They look pretty healthy, can’t wait to eat cucumbers out of my greenhouse!! Haven’t tasted basil yet only 3” tall.
