Kentucky Wonder Heirloom Pole Bean

‘Kentucky Wonder’ Pole Bean, also known as ‘Old Homestead,’ is a vigorous heirloom variety prized for its classic flavor, meaty texture, and long harvest season. Plants produce generous yields of 9–10 inch pods that are nearly stringless when harvested young.

Sow ‘Kentucky Wonder’ directly in the garden after the danger of frost has passed and the soil has warmed. The vigorous vines grow about 5–7 feet tall and require a trellis, fence, teepee, or other sturdy support.

Harvest the pods while they are young and tender for use as snap beans, or allow them to mature further for fresh shell beans. Pods can also be left on the vines until fully mature and dry for use as dried beans. Pick frequently during the main harvest period to encourage continued production.
