Strange Middle Eastern heirloom also called ‘Serpent Cucumber’ or ‘Snake Melon” that looks and tastes like a cucumber but is actually a melon. Crisp, mild, sweet flesh is burpless, bitter-free and makes perfect pickles in addition to being our longest slicer. Especially suited for hot climates, with pale green, ribbed fruits with white flesh. Trellis them for straight fruits; otherwise they twist and turn when grown on the ground.

    Mary has Worms
The BEST veggie in my garden

These "cucumbers" are definitely fantastic. I can't believe that more people don't grow them. We use them as a regular cucumber (no peeling!) until they get fairly large. Then above 14" or so, we have to start peeling them, but they're still great. And if you let them keep growing (think closer to 20" long and 3" or 4" wide), they get softer and then taste very much like a honeydew melon! When they get too soft for anybody in our family to consider eating, then we feed them to the ducks or the worms. And they keep putting on ALL SUMMER & ALL FALL!
