Northern Gardener Collection Sweet Potato Plants
Growing Northern Gardener Collection Sweet Potato Plants
The Northern Gardener Collection brings together three dependable sweet potato varieties—‘Centennial,’ ‘Beauregard,’ and ‘Georgia Jet’—selected for strong performance, excellent flavor, and adaptability to shorter growing seasons. This bundle includes 36 bunches total, with 12 bunches of each variety, and offers 33% savings compared with purchasing them separately.
‘Centennial’ offers smooth orange skin, dark orange flesh, and strong disease tolerance. ‘Beauregard’ is known for heavy yields and sweet, moist orange flesh, while ‘Georgia Jet’ matures quickly and performs especially well where the growing season is shorter. Together, they provide a reliable mix of flavor, productivity, and versatility.
Plant sweet potato slips after all danger of frost has passed and the soil has thoroughly warmed. Choose a location in full sun with loose, well-drained soil, and space plants about 12 to 18 inches apart. Set each slip deeply enough to cover the lower stem and roots while keeping the upper leaves above the soil line. Water thoroughly after planting and keep the soil evenly moist while plants become established.
Harvest the varieties as they reach maturity, generally in about 90 to 100 days, and before cold weather arrives. Dig carefully to avoid bruising the roots, then cure freshly harvested sweet potatoes before eating or storing for the best flavor and keeping quality. This collection is excellent for baking, roasting, mashing, casseroles, fries, and everyday cooking.
