Growing Information

Growing Primus (bicolor syn+) Hybrid Sweet Corn

‘Primus’ is a premium hybrid sweet corn bred for exceptional sweetness, rich corn flavor, and superior eating quality. Its unique kernel blend combines about 40% Super Sweet (sh2) and 60% sugary enhanced (se) genetics, producing large ears filled with creamy yellow and white kernels that are tender, juicy, and intensely sweet. Robust plants provide strong garden performance, while the bicolor ears deliver standout flavor at harvest.

Sow ‘Primus’ directly in the garden about 1 inch deep. Space plants about 3 feet apart and grow in full sun. This heat-tolerant variety performs best when planted after the soil has warmed thoroughly. For best results, isolate it from other Super Sweet (sh2) corn varieties.

Ready to harvest in about 81 days, begin checking the ears as they approach maturity and pick them at peak eating quality when the kernels are plump, tender, and juicy.

Exceptionally sweet, tender, and flavorful, ‘Primus’ is excellent for fresh eating and canning.

The best ever.

Primus is by far the best tasting sweet corn ever! I've grown lots of other types but trust me once you try Primus you will never grow anything else. Caution! When they say the soil must be warm, believe it, otherwise the seeds won't germinate. I plant twice as much as I need just in case.
