Xanthos Cosmos
Growing Xanthos Cosmos
‘Xanthos’ is an open-pollinated cosmos prized for its unusual yellow coloring, abundant flowering, and graceful garden presence. Single blooms feature deeper yellow centers that gradually soften to creamy yellow at the petal tips, creating a luminous look unlike traditional pink and white cosmos varieties.
Plant ‘Xanthos’ seeds about ¼ inch deep and space plants 12 to 18 inches apart. Grow in full sun. Germination typically takes 7 to 10 days. This variety is also well suited to containers.
Ready to bloom in about 70 days, enjoy the flowers as they open and reach their best display stage. The abundant pale-yellow blooms bring a soft, sunny look to both gardens and arrangements.
Bright, graceful, and distinctive, ‘Xanthos’ is an excellent choice for ornamental beds, borders, containers, cut flower gardens, and pollinator-friendly plantings.
