Mammoth Russian Sunflower

75 days. A commercial grade sunflower that is nonetheless as striking as any sunflower around! Besides its ornamental value, can be pressed to yield a very healthy oil low in saturated fat. Dried seeds can be eaten as a wholesome snack or can be fed to birds, poultry or rabbits. Grows 7 to 10-ft. tall, with huge, disc-shaped flower heads that turn to the sun while growing. Very frost sensitive, so sow after the soil reaches 65 to 70°F. Usually planted in rows like corn. Sow about 750 seeds per 500 sq. ft.
