Great tomatoes but poor germination rate

Since I was no longer able to find these tomatoes as plants, I had to plant them by seed this year. The germination rate in a heated room under a grow light was about 30%. For comparison, my hot cherry pepper seeds and Listada de Gandia eggplant seeds had a 100% germination rate.

These tomatoes are large -- as are the plant yields -- but a packet with 15-20 seeds is sadly insufficient.

Great Paste Tomato

It’s the latter half of July here in southwest Missouri, and the garden is producing heavily right now. I felt the need Ed to rate this wonderful tomato. It’s the first year I have grown it and I am very impressed. The plants are rather small, even for a determinate variety, but the production is great and the fruits are really large and perfectly shaped. Nearly all the ones I have picked are in the six to eight ounce range and they appear to be no where near ending. I’m sure I will get plenty to can some great sauce.

Tough germination this year

This is my second year growing these and the end result are great tomatoes for sauce. But this year the germination has been poor at about 50%. I have a good setup with heat mats, etc. I will try again next year.

Grew under a small high tunnel in a raised bed. Especially liked the way they ripened up altogether so I could use them efficiently in my canning products. Later, they even started all over again!

2 years running

I’ve grown these 2 years running. Both years seeds all sprouted and replanted thru making sauce. No issues, best of all around 70 days they ripen a nice size. Bought more seed to go in 25 season. Also gonna try the version fours as well.
