Growing La Bomba Hybrid Pepper

Continuous production of large, dark green, thick-walled jalapeños with little to no checking. Vigorous upright plants are easy to harvest under a dense leaf canopy that prevents sunscald. Fruits with good flavor and medium heat are ideal fresh or when used for “poppers.” Excellent container plant when space is limited.

I live in NE Minnesota and have always had good results with LaBomba. Not too hot, not too mild, they are just right.
I've grown them for years and will continue to do so. The cool weather we usually get doesn't seem to bother them.

Superb yield and quality

I grow a lot of jalapenos for fresh raw use and cooking. I grew four different varieties this year to compare their merits. This was indeed my favorite. It out yielded the others by far. But what was most impressive was the quality of the fruits. Absolutely no "netting" or cracking, even when allowing them to completely turn red. They have thick walls, and wonderful flavor. Great raw in salsas, and the perfect variety for stuffing as a "popper". They have a moderate heat level that you can feel, but does not overshadow the depth and complexity of flavor. The yields continued right up to a hard frost. So many fruits that I had plenty to pickle some as well. I will continue to grow multiple varieties, but LaBomba has become my number one.
