Katarina Hybrid Cabbage
Growing Katarina Hybrid Cabbage
‘Katarina’ is a high-performing hybrid cabbage and a 2016 All-America Selections Winner, prized for its extra-early harvests, compact growth, and sweet, crisp flavor. It produces dense, round, light green heads that mature quickly and reliably, making it a great choice for gardeners who want fresh cabbage in less than two months.
Start ‘Katarina’ seeds indoors for transplanting. Sow seeds about ½ inch deep, then transplant seedlings 6 to 8 inches apart in full sun to partial shade. Its compact habit makes it especially well suited for containers, patios, raised beds, and smaller garden spaces.
Ready to harvest in about 55 days, the heads can be picked once they feel dense and firm and have developed their characteristic light green color.
Sweet, crisp, and tender, ‘Katarina’ is excellent for homemade coleslaw, fresh salads, everyday cooking, and short-term storage.
