Growing Information

Growing Fooled You Jalapeño Hybrid Mild Pepper

Fooled You Jalapeño Hybrid Pepper Seeds produce mild, flavorful peppers that look just like traditional jalapeños but deliver all the taste without the heat. This variety is ideal for gardeners who love the distinctive jalapeño flavor but prefer peppers suitable for family-friendly dishes, stir-fries, and salsas. The fruits ripen from deep green to bright red and maintain their crisp texture and rich, aromatic flavor through every stage.

Plants mature in about 65 days and grow vigorously to around 27 inches tall, producing dependable yields of smooth, uniform 3–4 inch peppers. Their sturdy structure supports consistent fruit set throughout the season, making them easy to grow in garden beds or containers. Whether you’re preparing homemade salsa, fresh relish, or sautéed peppers for dinner, Fooled You Jalapeño peppers deliver all the classic taste without the burn, making them a popular choice for mild-pepper gardeners.

Poor Germination

I've purchased these peppers for the past 5 years with success. This year's order resulted in only two seeds germinating (out of the eight received) and both are showing signs of stunted growth. Unfortunately, it is too late to replace for a suitable growing season and I only hope the two survivors will recover and provide me with what at their best would be a severely limited crop! Refer to the photos taken today 5-26-26 of the plants started 2-16-26. Normally, at this juncture those plants should be at least double their size with blossoms!

No heat pepper

This is my second year to plant these. My local coffee shop uses them in breakfast meals and loves them.Customers enjoy taste of pepper without the heat.

So far so good

I planted 12 Fooled you Peppers seeds for 2026 and every seed germinated. I've planted a similar or maybe the same variety before but they went under the name of "Tricked You". Very abundant producer with a very mild flavor. I'm not a fan of Jalapeno peppers, but these are great for making Jalapeno poppers on the grill without the heat of a Jalapeno.

Doesn't taste like Jalapenos

These plants produce a lot, and I appreciate that they aren't hot, but they do not have the jalapeno flavor at all, I still ate them but was disappointed.

Fool you

I have grown these for years ,great for salsa . I like to smoke them then dehydrate them . I put them into mason jar with oxygen remover packet the jar seals itself . I remove them for seasoning for chili, salsa etc, I run them thru a coffee grinder it makes them like a powder.
