Darkstar is the name of a song by the Grateful dead. A great name for a great looking and tasting tomatoe that is truly out of this world. No 2 look exactly alike nor do they taste exactly the same. Yummmmmm

Poor Performer

Not a good selection for northern gardens in the Great Lakes region. In a summer with sufficient sunshine for all the other tomatoes to not develop green shoulders and gray wall - every single Darkstar has green tops. Hard green tops at that so the top third of the tomato is pretty much useless. For canning/freezer tomatoes this isn't a deal breaker but it is for slicing. And it is not that resistant to late blight either. My tried and true heirlooms have better resistance than these plants.

These grew very well. The tomatoes are delicious. I received 8 seeds, and six of them germinated.
