Growing Information

Growing Clancy Hybrid Potato

‘Clancy’ is an award-winning hybrid potato and 2019 All-America Selections Winner grown from true seed rather than traditional seed potatoes. Seed-grown production offers a compact, easy-to-store alternative to planting tubers.

Start ‘Clancy’ indoors for transplanting or sow directly where conditions allow. Plant seeds about ¼ inch deep, space plants about 3 inches apart, and grow in full sun. Sow 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost and transplant outdoors around the same time as tomato seedlings. This variety is also well suited to containers.

Ready to harvest in about 100 days, begin checking underground tubers once plants have matured and harvest them at the size you prefer.

Versatile and convenient, ‘Clancy’ is excellent for everyday cooking, container gardening, and storage.

TEMPERAMENTAL

The potato seeds are quite temperamental, some come up, and some do not. If they DO come up, very few make it very far and maybe have one or two very small taters. I guess I expected too much.

Excited and good germination rate

I’m excited my seeds all germinated that I planted now transplanted and doing well can’t wait for 100 days. I’m in florida and planted in containers. If too hot can move into screened florida room or shade. Love seeds and such always a good buy
