Growing Ruby Queen Beet

‘Ruby Queen’ is an award-winning beet and 1957 All-America Selections Winner prized for its sweet flavor, uniform shape, and deep red interior with no visible streaking. Smooth, globe-shaped roots develop small taproots and are topped by compact, dark green foliage, making this variety especially attractive for bunching and preserving.

Sow ‘Ruby Queen’ directly in the garden about ½ inch deep during the cooler temperatures of spring or fall. Space plants 2 to 4 inches apart and grow in full sun. Plants typically reach 10 to 14 inches tall and perform best in loose, well-drained soil with consistent moisture as the roots develop.

Ready to harvest in about 60 days, begin pulling the 1½-inch roots once they reach your preferred size while they are still firm, smooth, and tender.
