The seed I got this year was not Flare. I've grown this variety before, and the plants then were just as the picture shows, that is, Flare plants are short and compact, the inflorescences are compact and completely red - the calyxes are large and bright red, the same color as the corollas. But my plants this year are viney and sprawling; the inflorescences are not compact, and the flowers are small, with small green calyxes. It may be a species of Salvia, but definitely not Flare.

A good start. The seedlings are about 3-4 in. Tall. Most are in containers now, so we will wait and see what happens.
