An annual form of white-blossom sweet clover that completes its entire life cycle the year sown. Since it produces its gigantic crop of white blossoms the year planted, it is especially preferred by beekeepers to quickly attract bees to its enormous nectar production. Highly adaptable to all climates and is grown in all 50 states, even in heavy alkaline soils. In addition to its use for nectar production, Hubam also produces high-quality hay in early summer and is excellent for fixing nitrogen. Sow seed from early spring to July at a rate of about 2 to 4-oz. per 500 sq. ft.

Great for honeybees

I never have luck with clovers, but this Hubam Sweet Clover was precisely what I'd hoped for. It germinated well and it was a stringy mess for a while, but a few months later, once it started blooming, the honeybees found it and you could hear them from several feet away! I just bought enough for a test plot, and it does reseed a little bit (maybe 10% of what was planted the year before). it needs a fair amount of watering for the initial few weeks of growth, but once it's about 12" tall, it can handle drought, flood, whatever. Anything but deer and bunny wabbits! I'm now going to encourage a fellow beekeeper to join me in planting more of this stuff.
