Growing Information

Growing Tango Leaf Lettuce

‘Tango’ is a green leaf lettuce prized for its deeply frilled foliage, crisp texture, and mild tangy flavor. Upright rosettes remain tender and resist bitterness well in warmer conditions, while excellent regrowth makes this variety useful for both baby-leaf production and full-size harvests.

Start ‘Tango’ indoors for transplanting or sow directly where conditions allow. Plant seeds about ⅛ to ¼ inch deep and space plants 8 to 10 inches apart. Grow in full sun to partial shade. This heat-tolerant variety performs across a wide range of climates.

Ready to harvest in about 55 days, pick young leaves for baby greens or allow plants to mature for larger harvests. Good regrowth can provide multiple cuttings from one planting.

Crisp, tangy, and versatile, ‘Tango’ is excellent for salads, baby-leaf mixes, sandwiches, wraps, and fresh eating.

Tango lettuce

I ordered several seed packets this year. They were shipped promptly. I've sown the lettuce, kale and radish seeds in my outdoor boxbeds and now I'm waiting for germination. The cukes and flower seeds have just been sowed indoor under lights until the end of May. So far, I have nothing negative to report.

Curly!

The Tango lettuce has several leaves branching broadly off of each stem. They are curly and fairly crunchy. They taste like . . . lettuce -- good! Growing indoors in a small container. Looking forward to spring planting.
