Growing Information
Growing Purple Wave® Hybrid Spreading Petunia
‘Purple Wave®’ is an award-winning hybrid petunia and 1995 All-America Selections Winner prized for its vigorous spreading growth and abundant purple blooms. Large flowers form along the entire length of each stem, creating an impressive carpet of color on low-growing plants with a wide spread.
Surface sow ‘Purple Wave®’ seeds and space plants 12 to 18 inches apart. Grow in full sun. Germination typically takes 7 to 14 days. This variety is well suited to containers and is also noted for good disease resistance.
Ready to bloom in about 84 days, enjoy the flowers as they open and reach their best display stage. The long spreading stems become covered with blooms for a dense, colorful presentation.
Vigorous, colorful, and dependable, ‘Purple Wave®’ is an excellent choice for ornamental beds, ground covers, hanging baskets, containers, and landscape plantings.
