Carolina Reaper Pepper Plants
Growing Carolina Reaper Pepper Plants
‘Carolina Reaper’ is an extreme-heat pepper variety best known for once holding the Guinness World Record as the world’s hottest pepper. Fruits average about 1,641,000 Scoville Heat Units and can reach up to approximately 2,200,000 SHUs, producing an intense level of heat beneath their distinctive rough, bumpy red skin and long pointed stingers.
Plant ‘Carolina Reaper’ seedlings in full sun after all danger of frost has passed and temperatures have warmed. Set plants in rich, well-drained soil and give them enough space for good air circulation and vigorous growth. Water consistently while plants establish, avoiding overly wet soil, and provide regular feeding throughout the season to support flowering and fruit production.
The 2- to 6-inch seedlings arrive ready for transplanting and will continue developing into productive pepper plants through the warm season. Handle ripe peppers carefully, as even small amounts can deliver extreme heat. Gloves are strongly recommended when harvesting, cutting, or processing the fruit.
Despite their intense heat, ‘Carolina Reaper’ peppers can have brief fruity notes with hints of sweetness before the heat builds. Use extremely sparingly in hot sauces, chili, marinades, and other spicy dishes, or dehydrate the peppers for longer-term use.
Inventory Note: Plants are grown in waves, so additional inventory may become available throughout the season if a variety is temporarily sold out.
