Growing Anaheim Chili Hot Pepper

‘Anaheim Chili’ is an heirloom pepper prized for its mild heat, thick flesh, and dependable productivity. Two-celled fruits begin dark green and mature to bright red, providing classic chile flavor without overwhelming heat.

Start ‘Anaheim Chili’ indoors for transplanting. Plant seeds about ¼ inch deep and space plants about 18 inches apart. Grow in full sun. This heat-tolerant variety performs especially well through warm summer conditions.

Ready to harvest in about 75 days, pick peppers green for traditional chile uses or allow them to mature fully red for richer flavor.

Mildly hot, fleshy, and versatile, ‘Anaheim Chili’ is excellent for sauces, roasting, drying, stuffing, and everyday cooking.

Wife made me do it!

I am not much of a pepper guy, but my wife had tried Anaheims in a salad and asked me to grow them. Actually, they are only about as hot as a pepperoncini, and they're bigger than a jalapeno, with thick, crunchy walls. They're good green, but even better when they ripen to red. Plants are very hardy and enduring. I hate to admit it, but wife was right. What can I say?
