Growing Information

Growing Little Snowpea Purple Pea

‘Little Snowpea Purple’ is an open-pollinated pea prized for its ornamental flowers, compact growth, and sweet, crunchy pods. Dwarf plants produce striking two-toned blossoms in shades of lavender and deep violet before setting crisp, flat, bright green pods with excellent flavor.

Sow ‘Little Snowpea Purple’ directly in the garden about 1 inch deep and space plants about 2 inches apart in rows 12 to 18 inches apart. Grow in full sun to partial shade. This variety is well suited to containers and benefits from support.

Ready to harvest in about 54 days, pick the flat pods regularly while they are crisp and tender to maintain quality and encourage continued production.

Sweet, colorful, and versatile, ‘Little Snowpea Purple’ is excellent for fresh eating, salads, stir-fries, canning, and ornamental edible plantings.

An Abundance of Peas

I grew these beautiful self pollinating pea plants both outdoors and hydroponically indoors. Not only were they beautiful and filled with hundreds of pretty purple and pink flowers but they also produced an abundance of peas and provided continual harvests. These are absolutely worth trying both indoors and out.
