Early Nutter Hybrid Butternut Squash
Growing Early Nutter Hybrid Butternut Squash
‘Early Nutter’ is a hybrid butternut squash prized for its early maturity, compact growth, and rich nutty flavor. Thick-necked, bell-shaped fruits develop smooth beige skin and creamy orange flesh, with individual squash commonly reaching about 4 to 5 pounds.
Start ‘Early Nutter’ indoors for transplanting or sow directly where conditions allow. Plant seeds about 1 inch deep, space plants 36 to 48 inches apart, and grow in full sun. Manageable vines are well suited to smaller gardens and are noted for tolerance to powdery mildew.
Ready to harvest in about 90 days, pick fruits once fully mature and their beige rind has hardened.
Sweet, creamy, and flavorful, ‘Early Nutter’ is excellent for roasting, soups, baking, everyday cooking, and storage.
