Growing Creme Brulee Echalion

‘Creme Brulee Echalion’ is an award-winning open-pollinated shallot prized for its beautiful coloring, single-centered bulbs, and refined flavor. This distinctive echalion produces easy-to-peel bulbs with coppery-pink skins and rosy-purple interiors, combining sweetness with a light citrus note when eaten raw.

Start ‘Creme Brulee Echalion’ indoors for transplanting or sow directly where conditions allow. Plant seeds about ¼ inch deep and space plants about 2 inches apart. Grow in full sun. This cold-tolerant variety is also well suited to containers.

Ready to harvest in about 98 days, lift the bulbs once they have reached full size and maturity and cure them for storage.

Sweet, elegant, and versatile, ‘Creme Brulee Echalion’ is excellent for fresh dishes, caramelizing, sauces, roasting, everyday cooking, and storage.

Probably my favorite addition to my garden last year

These grew really well with minimal care and produced tons of beautiful and tasty shallots. I will definitely grow these again.

Too soon to tell.

Germination was slow and erratic. 'Hoping that they will redeem themselves. In the meantime, I ordered another packet hoping for better results.

Creme Brulee Shallots

I planted these under lights on 1/18. They came up quickly with over 90% germination. They are sturdy seedlings - I can't wait to get them in the garden!
