Growing Chocolate Pear Heirloom Tomato

‘Chocolate Pear’ is an heirloom tomato prized for its unusual pear shape, dark coloring, and complex flavor and one of our 2023 Free Seed varieties. Cherry-size fruits develop classic red skin overlaid with green and brown tones, giving them the appearance of traditional dark heirloom tomatoes.

Start ‘Chocolate Pear’ indoors for transplanting. Plant seeds about ¼ inch deep, space plants 24 to 36 inches apart, and grow in full sun. This heat-tolerant variety performs especially well through warm weather.

Ready to harvest in about 70 days, pick fruits once they reach full size and develop their mature multicolored appearance.

It was a freebie.

Yes the first of these seeds were free. They came as a bonus in last year’s order. They grew very well and produced many groups of 5 plus fruits. They are very tasty, and work well in salads whole or cut lengthwise.
