Growing Information

Growing Hale's Best Jumbo Cantaloupe

‘Hale’s Best Jumbo’ is a classic heirloom cantaloupe prized for its sweet flavor, deep salmon-colored flesh, and dependable productivity. Heavily netted, ribbed fruits are slightly oval with a small seed cavity, while vigorous vines reliably produce generous harvests year after year.

Start ‘Hale’s Best Jumbo’ indoors for transplanting. Plant seeds about ½ inch deep and space plants 4 to 6 inches apart. Grow in full sun. This drought-tolerant variety performs especially well through warm summer conditions.

Ready to harvest in about 80 days, begin checking fruits once they reach full size and develop their characteristic color, aroma, and sweetness.

Sweet, aromatic, and juicy, ‘Hale’s Best Jumbo’ is excellent for fresh eating, fruit salads, breakfast plates, and summer desserts.

Cant seem to get these to start.

I attempted two time to get these to grown in a raised bed inside a green house with no results. I have tomatoes from this same order that are doing fine and melons seeds from another supplier are working as well. Not sure what's wrong.

Hales Cantaloupe

Have not planted these seeds yet but it came quickly in the mail and prices are reasonable. I have transplanted this variety and one plant produced about 13 melons of great quality. Very juicy and sweet.
