Growing Information

Growing Blacktail Mountain Watermelon

‘Blacktail Mountain’ is an heirloom watermelon prized for its adaptability to both short seasons and warm, humid climates. Round fruits develop greenish-black rinds surrounding juicy, deep red flesh with a sugar-sweet flavor.

Sow ‘Blacktail Mountain’ directly in the garden about ½ to 1 inch deep, space plants 18 to 36 inches apart, and grow in full sun. For best sowing, orient each seed with the pointed end facing down. This cold-tolerant variety can perform even where summer nights become quite cool.

Ready to harvest in about 75 days, pick fruits once they are fully mature and have developed their characteristic dark rind and sweet interior.

Juicy, sweet, and adaptable, ‘Blacktail Mountain’ is excellent for fresh eating.

Amazing Fast-growing Mellons

Fast germination times, even down here in this Georgia heat and humidity! There are melons on all six vines that bloomed. Just waiting for them to mature. I keep them well watered.

I ordered 2 packs of seeds and had a total of exactly 30 seeds,27 out of the 30 germinated and are growing right now in SE Ga.That's a pretty good ratio, hence quality seeds. If all goes well I will have plenty of seeds for next year. Thanks seeds n such for fast shipping and for selling quality products.
