Growing Triple Crown Blackberry Plants

‘Triple Crown’ is a popular thornless blackberry variety prized for its exceptional flavor, large fruit, and extended harvest season. Named for its three standout qualities—flavor, productivity, and vigor—it produces heavy yields of glossy, juicy berries with a rich sweet-tart taste.

Plant ‘Triple Crown’ in full sun, spacing plants about 3 to 4 feet apart. Choose fertile, well-drained soil with a pH of about 6.0 to 6.8, and keep the soil evenly moist, especially during the first year while plants become established. Prune out old fruiting canes after harvest to encourage healthy new growth and continued production.

Best suited to USDA Zones 5–9, ‘Triple Crown’ is vigorous, semi-erect, disease-resistant, and highly adaptable. Plants may produce a light crop the first year and typically reach fuller production by the second year. Once established, berries generally ripen about 35 to 45 days after bloom, with a later harvest that helps extend the blackberry season into late summer.

Large, glossy, and flavorful, ‘Triple Crown’ blackberries are excellent for fresh eating, baking, freezing, jams, preserves, and desserts. Thornless canes make harvesting easier and more comfortable, while the extended season provides a longer window for enjoying fresh berries.

Shipping Notice: This item ships directly from our grower on a separate seasonal schedule from Seeds ’n Such seed orders. Live plants ship when weather conditions are suitable for your USDA zone. A flat $12 Live Plant Shipping Fee applies to each order containing berry plants.

Dead on Arrival

Received plants in mail as roots, which is what I expected. Planted within 12 hours, all five plants never came to life. Sent customer support an email with a response that plants are dormant. Give it time. Waited 3 weeks with no improvement, reached back out to customer service 3 times with ZERO response. Never again will I order live plants from here. Seeds are ok, not so much on the delicate live ones
