Thompson Seedless Grape Plants
Growing Thompson Seedless Grape Plants
‘Thompson Seedless’ is a classic white seedless grape variety prized for its sweet flavor, tender texture, and exceptional versatility. Long clusters of golden-white grapes offer mild acidity and dependable sweetness, making this one of the most popular grape varieties for both fresh use and processing.
Plant ‘Thompson Seedless’ in full sun, spacing vines about 6 to 8 feet apart with 8 to 10 feet between rows. Choose well-drained soil and provide a sturdy trellis, arbor, or fence for support. Water regularly while vines are establishing, then reduce watering as plants mature. Fertilize lightly in early spring and prune annually in late winter to encourage strong new canes and productive fruiting wood.
Best suited to USDA Zones 5–8, ‘Thompson Seedless’ is vigorous, high yielding, and well adapted to warm, sunny growing conditions. It is self-pollinating, so only one plant is needed for fruit production. Remove any fruit during the first year to help the roots establish before supporting a full crop.
Sweet, tender, and seedless, ‘Thompson Seedless’ grapes are excellent for fresh eating, juice, and homemade raisins. Once established, the vigorous vines can produce abundant clusters of high-quality fruit year after year.
