Himrod Seedless Grape Plants
Growing Himrod Seedless Grape Plants
‘Himrod’ is a seedless white grape variety prized for its sweet flavor, crisp texture, and dependable production. Developed at Cornell University, it produces large, tight clusters of golden-yellow grapes and ripens early in the season.
Plant ‘Himrod’ in full sun, spacing vines about 6 to 8 feet apart with 8 to 10 feet between rows. Choose well-drained soil and provide a sturdy trellis, arbor, or fence for support. Water regularly while vines are establishing, fertilize lightly in early spring, and prune annually in late winter to encourage strong new canes and productive fruiting wood.
Best suited to USDA Zones 5–8, ‘Himrod’ is vigorous, heavy yielding, and disease-tolerant. It is self-pollinating, so only one plant is needed for fruit production. Remove any fruit during the first year to allow the plant to focus on establishing a strong root system.
Sweet, crisp, and seedless, ‘Himrod’ grapes are excellent for fresh eating, juicing, drying, and other kitchen uses. Its early ripening, reliable yields, and easy-growing nature make it a strong choice for home gardeners.
