Growing Information

Growing Giant Belgium Heirloom Beefsteak Tomato

‘Giant Belgium’ is an heirloom beefsteak tomato prized for its enormous fruits and rich old-fashioned sweetness. Tomatoes commonly reach about 2 pounds and can grow considerably larger, with dense, meaty interiors and relatively few seeds.

Start ‘Giant Belgium’ indoors for transplanting. Plant seeds about ¼ inch deep, space plants 24 to 36 inches apart, and grow in full sun. Vigorous indeterminate vines benefit from sturdy cages or stakes and consistent moisture and feeding.

Ready to harvest in about 86 days, pick fruits once they reach full size and mature color.

Sweet, meaty, and substantial, ‘Giant Belgium’ is excellent for slicing, sauces, canning, and other fresh or preserved uses.

Decent So Far

66% germination rate on these. 2/3 sprouted, so I just planted another one. Hoping to end up with 3 seedlings and at least two that will make it to the garden!

Excellent and tasty! And HUGE

I tried this tomato for the first time this year. We love it! It is super meaty--not watery or seedy at all. It has a wonderful taste. They get pretty huge--my largest was 26 ounces! Very impressed with this tomato and my husband says we have to grow it every year now.
