Growing Information

Growing Golden Self-Blanching Celery

‘Golden Self-Blanching’ is a dependable heirloom celery variety prized by home gardeners and market growers alike. Vigorous, sturdy plants produce tall, thick stalks with tender, stringless flesh and develop a solid heart early. The yellow-green stalks are known for their excellent quality and classic celery flavor.

Start ‘Golden Self-Blanching’ indoors for transplanting. Plant seeds about ⅛ inch deep, space plants 6 inches apart, and grow in full sun to partial shade. This variety is cold tolerant.

Around 85 days to maturity, harvest ‘Golden Self-Blanching’ when the stalks are full-sized, thick, and well developed.

‘Golden Self-Blanching’ has tender, crisp stalks that are excellent for fresh eating, salads, soups, stews, and everyday cooking.

Very good results with this celery

I had been growing celery for about 4 years. Last season, I tried these self blanching seeds. I prefer this celery as it doesnt get hollow in the middle like other celery. Very good production. Will be growing it again this year for my market customers and myself
