Growing Information

Growing German Chamomile

German Chamomile is an airy herb prized for its delicate daisy-like flowers, sweet apple-like fragrance, and beautiful cottage-garden appearance. Soft, wispy foliage supports masses of small white flowers, creating a graceful display that also attracts visiting pollinators.

Start German Chamomile indoors for transplanting or sow directly where conditions allow. Plant seeds about ¼ inch deep and space plants 8 to 12 inches apart. Grow in full sun. Plants reach approximately 24 to 30 inches tall and are also well suited to containers.

Ready to begin harvesting in about 63 days, gather the flowers as they fully open and dry extras for later use.

Fragrant, delicate, and useful, German Chamomile is especially well suited to herbal teas, infusions, drying, cottage gardens, and pollinator-friendly plantings.
