Growing Thai Siam Queen Basil
‘Thai Siam Queen’ is an award-winning open-pollinated basil and 1997 All-America Selections Winner prized for its sweet, spicy flavor and distinctive licorice-anise overtones. Large, tender tropical leaves grow on attractive purple-stemmed plants, combining excellent culinary flavor with ornamental appeal.
Start ‘Thai Siam Queen’ indoors for transplanting or sow directly where conditions allow. Plant seeds about ¼ inch deep and space plants about 12 inches apart. Grow in full sun. This variety is especially well suited to containers.
Ready to begin harvesting in about 75 days, cut fresh leaves or stems regularly once plants are established.
Sweet, spicy, and aromatic, ‘Thai Siam Queen’ is excellent for Thai-inspired dishes, curries, stir-fries, soups, fresh cooking, and drying.
