Growing Information
Growing Rubinato Cosmos
‘Rubinato’ is a Fleuroselect Novelty Award-winning open-pollinated cosmos prized for its changing flower color, compact growth, and early flowering. Single daisy-like blooms begin a striking dark red before maturing through burgundy and old rose, creating a beautifully varied display on robust, well-branched plants.
Plant ‘Rubinato’ seeds about ¼ inch deep and space plants 12 to 18 inches apart. Grow in full sun. Germination typically takes 7 to 10 days. This drought-tolerant dwarf variety is especially well suited to smaller gardens.
Ready to bloom in about 70 days, enjoy the flowers as they open and gradually change color. Regular cutting provides attractive stems while helping maintain a colorful summer display.
Richly colored, compact, and distinctive, ‘Rubinato’ is an excellent choice for ornamental beds, borders, smaller gardens, cut flower plantings, and pollinator-friendly gardens.
